Rodman & Renshaw’s Ashok Kumar tells clients that the MacBook Air is cannibalizing iPad sales, reports “Fortune” (http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/11/12/macbook-air-cannibalizing-ipad/?source=yahoo_quote). The analyst says:
° Supply chain checks that suggest that Apple’s monthly iPad production rate is unlikely to exceed two million per month by year’s end — considerably less than the 3 million/mos. some had predicted. That would put those six-plus million sales estimates for the December quarter at risk.
° Unspecified “anecdotal evidence” that the MacBook Air is cannibalizing the iPad. “A fully functional notebook in a very attractive form factor, may be resonating more with consumers than a content consumption only device.” says Kumar.
