According to the latest market share survey from NetMarketShare (http://www.netmarketshare.com), the market share for Mac OS X, Safari and iOS all rose last month.
According to the report, among operating systems, Mac OS X had 5.59% of the global market share in July compared to 5.37% in June (that’s global market share; in the US it’s almost 10%). This is the highest percentage ever for Mac OS X. Windows remains dominant with 87.66% as of July. That’s down from 88.29% in May.
When it comes to browsers, Safari had 8.05% in July compared to 7.48% in June; that’s its highest percentage every. Internet Explorer had 52.81% Firefox had 21.48% and Chrome had 13.11%. That compares to, respectively, June percentages of 53.68%, 21.57% and 13.45%, respectively, for the browsers.
The iOS’s market share also rose, according to NetMarketShare. It had 2.98% of the global market share in July compared to 2.63% in June.
NetMarketShares’ monthly surveys don’t measure market share in terms of computer systems sold. Instead they sample data from visitors to some 40,000 web sites operated by their clients. And note that NetMarketShare’s numbers don’t equate to sales.
