Xeric Design has updated EarthDesk (http://www.xericdesign.com/earthdesk.php), its real-time dynamic desktop map, to version 5.7. The upgrade sports:

° Faster rendering, lower processor usage, and a cleaner interface;

° Seasonal maps, with snow and vegetation levels changing month-to-month;;

° Support for higher resolution map and cloud data on large displays;

° An adjustable brightness and background;

° A starfield background option;

° An updated political map that displays city lights and/or moonlight;

° Support for dual GPU.

EarthDesk replaces your static desktop with an image of the Earth showing current sun, moon and city illumination, as well as real-time global cloud coverage, allowing you to track hurricanes and other weather systems on your Macintosh desktop. The software operates silently in the background, keeping your desktop updated while you work.

EarthDesk requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. It’s available forUS$24.95 from the Xeric Design website with discounted future upgrades or for $17.95 through the Mac App Store in the Utilities category without discounted upgrades.
