Monkey Tools has announced Library Monkey Pro 2.0 (http://macte.ch/8rpmr), an update of their music librarian and CD ripper for Mac OS X 10.4 or higher. It offers a set of new tools for audio asset management, editing and processing.
Library Monkey Pro 2.0 adds such new features and enhancements as dithering, spotting to ProTools and Logic Audio, metadata import via CSV, MP3 HD, a new customer feedback system and more. The upgrade offers three types of word-reduction algorithms using POW’r dithering.
Bit reductions are now more musical with an improved noise floor. Drag-and-drop has been supported in Library Monkey Pro for some time, but now users can spot files into Pro Tools and Logic Audio using contextual menu options. The spotting feature also includes the ability to sample rate convert prior to spotting for further session compatibility.
Also new to version 2.0 is support for the MP3 HD format. This new loss-less format provides another option for archiving and retention of audio detail. Users can also update the metadata of selected files by imported CSV files. This provides fast batch-processing of file metadata contained within the Asset List or Library.
There’s a new Customer Feedback System by Sunset Magicwerks. Users can contact Monkey Tool’s support team right within the application providing feature requests, bug submissions, or simply ask questions.
Version 2.0 also includes iTunes XML Database Import Functionality adding support to import the iTunes XML Database directly including all Tracks, Metadata, and Playlists. Users will also benefit from a new Background Asset Analysis to analyze assets in the background to auto-fill Peak and RMS metadata, support for Sonic Solutions files, new functionality to allow for the pruning of missing files as well as removal of any asset from any library and additional metadata mappings.
Demos are available for download on the Monkey Tools website. Users who purchased Library Monkey Pro 1.0 or 1.1 on or after April 1, 2011, are eligible for a free upgrade.
