Soundmatters (http://www.soundmatters.com) has announced the foxLv2 Platinum Bluetooth, a pocket-sized, hi-fi, portable speaker. It will be available in November for US$229.

The folks at Soundmatters say it’s the only portable speaker capable of taking full advantage of CSR apt-X’s dramatic improvement in streamed Bluetooth signal from apt-X equipped devices (like Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7 computers), delivering virtual CD quality wirelessly along with improved sound/picture sync for movies and gaming. Sporting a “platinum” finish, the new foxLv2 Platinum is good enough to actually hear the difference in connecting wires and therefore includes the Evergreen high quality audio cable from Audioquest, they add.

The portable speaker offers up to 20 hours (or more) of music with its rechargeable Litihum-ion battery. That’s with Bluetooth off; with it on, it’s more likely 20.

The Platinum measures 5.6 x 2.2 x 1.4 inches and weights 9.5 ounces. You can connect o most music sources via the 3.5mm stereo audio cable.
