Apple retail stores collected US$3.6 billion in revenue during during the company’s fiscal 2011 fourth quarter that ended Sept. 24. The average revenue of $10.7 million per store was down slightly.

The retail stores saw strong year-over-year growth in Mac and iPad sales. However, that was partially offset by slightly declining iPhone sales and and iPod sales that were down 27% year-over-year.

The stores sold 1.1 million Macs in the quarter — and, you guessed it, Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer says that half were to first time Mac users. The September quarter saw the opening of seven new stores open in six countries, including the first Hong Kong store.
