SQLabs (http://www.sqlabs.com/) has announced cubeSQL, a high performance, relational database management system built on top of the sqlite database engine.

It’s designed for developers who want to convert a single user database solution to a multiuser project and for companies looking for an an “easy to maintain” database management system. cubeSQL runs on Mac (OS X 10.5 and higher), Windows, Linux and it can be embedded into any iOS and Cocoa application.

cubeSQL is fast and has a small footprint, according to the folks at SQLabs. It can be easily accessed with any JSON client, with PHP, with the native C SDK, with a Windows DLL and with an highly optimized REAL Studio plugin.

cubeSQL Freeware Edition is free and enables developers and small offices to use an application based on cubeSQL without paying any fee. A commercial license with support for more than five concurrent connections starts at $299.
