Apple is reportedly suing an online Polish supermarket for trademarking the name “A.pl,” reports “The Next Web” (http://macte.ch/cKg8a), translating an article from the Polish website, “Telepolis.”

The article says Apple demanded that the Urząd Patentowy Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej (Poland’s patent office) cancel the trademark belonging to A.PL Internet SA. The first meeting purportedly took place on Aug. 29, but was adjourned and deferred to a later date.

Apple claims that A.pl’s mark creates a likelihood of confusion and attempts to trade off the fame of Apple, reports “The Next Web.” The California-based electronics firm wants the trademark invalidated — after objecting to its registration in the first place.
