BookArc makes it easy to use Retina MB Pro as your main machine

Twelve South (http://www.twelvesouth.com) recently refreshed its BookArc stand for the Retina display MacBook Pro models. At US$49.99 it’s a good buy for those who use the Apple laptop as their main computer. Those who use the Retina display MacBook Pro as a secondary or back-up computer can probably pass.

This desktop stand features built-in cable management and a precise fit for the Apple laptop. Underneath the BookArc for MacBook Pro are two hidden cable managers that prevent your monitor, USB and power cables from slipping to the floor when you unplug your laptop.

The new BookArc for MacBook Pro also ships with one extra insert to fit legacy models of the MacBook and MacBook Pro. All totaled, it includes three different sized, scratch-free, silicone cushions that grip the various MacBook models.

Measuring 3.4 x 4.6 x 10.5 inches and weighing under two pounds, it doesn’t take up much space. It’s sturdy, stable and aesthetically pleasing. The BookArc’s brushed aluminum finish goes well with Apple products such as its laptop line, the Cinema Display, Wireless Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.

Plus, it can boost the performance of your laptop a bit by letting you run it with the lid closed. How? By using the Twelve South case, your MacBook Pro’s system automatically dedicates 100% of its video memory to the external display rather than splitting it with the built-in display.

BookArc for MacBook Pro is available immediately at Amazon.com and other outlets.
