Taiwan wants Apple to blur a map image of its new US$1.4 billion early warning radar station that can detect aircraft and missiles coming from as far as western China, reports the “Associated Press” (http://macte.ch/AUujY). The image, on Maps in iOS 6, was purportedly taken more than a year ago.

Defense Ministry spokesman David Lo says Apple should follow its rival Google in using only low-resolution satellite pictures to show sensitive facilities, even as he acknowledged the military should also try to camouflage them. The 10-story high radar installation is near the Hsinchu Air Base in northern Taiwan, is built with U.S. technology and is due to go online later this year.
