A judge has ordered Apple and Samsung to narrow their patent infringement lawsuit case slated for trial next year, reports “Bloomberg” (http://tinyurl.com/amxrp25).

U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh in San Jose, California, told attorneyes from both companies that they have to “focus and streamline” their cases to 25 patent claims, or elements of the patents at issue, and 25 accused products. She made the request from the bench today in the latest of two related patent cases. The lawsuit was filed last year and covers technology in newer smartphones made by both companies, including Samsung’s Galaxy S III and Apple’s iPhone 5.

This is all part of the ongoing, global legal battle. Apple and Samsung have filed more than 30 lawsuits against each other across four continents. For example, Apple alleges that Samsung copied the slide-to-unlock technology of its iPhone and iPad devices.
