Creaceed (www.creaceed.com) has released Prizmo 3, an update of its Mac OS X application for scanning everything thanks to a digital camera. The upgrade adds Mac OS X Yosemite support.

The app’s revamped user interface taking advantage of Yosemite’s translucency and vibrancy. It supports Handoff so you can switch from editing Prizmo documents on one device to another, with Mac, iPhone, and iPad support.

Prizmo image cropping and cleanup capabilities are now exposed globally to other apps as an image editing extension. The software’s OCR capabilities are now made available throughout OS X, as an extension. Textual contents can be retrieved from any image in other apps that support extensions (image viewing action).

Prizmo 3 offers support for third-party exports: it can now invoke third-party export options (cloud storage, email clients, social networks, etc.) that have been installed on the system. It also offers improved image processing, better image clean-up features, and improved image preprocessing for OCR.

Scanning with Prizmo is not limited to documents. As Prizmo corrects lens distortion and perspective, they can scan almost everything: common documents (invoices, receipts) as well as less usual documents (boards, giant advertisements); documents of all sizes (regular formats like US Letter, US Legal, and custom); portrait and landscape documents; indoor and outdoor photographs.

Prizmo 3 requires Yosemite. It costs US$49.95, but Prizmo 3 is offered at 20% off for a few days through the Mac App Store. The update is free for users who purchased version 2.x.
