Almost everyone is expecting updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros next month. However, I also think we’ll see an updated 24-inch iMac with a M2 processor.
The laptops are expected to be equipped with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. Also anticipated is an update of the Mac mini with variations of the M2.
There’s little talk of an updated all-in-one. However, I think we’ll see an 24-inch model with the processor revved from an M1 to an M2. After all, it and the Mac mini are the only consumer-targeted Macs that have yet to receive a next-gen processor. Everyone’s betting on a new Mac mini with such an upgrade, so a upgraded iMac only makes sense.
Other than a spec upgrade, I don’t expect any other changes. Some new color options (midnight blue?) could be offered, but I doubt it.
There’s an outside chance a new Mac Pro could debut this year. But the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks it won’t arrive until next year — along with the return of the 27-inch iMac Pro and a 14-inch MacBook Air. Look for the pro desktops to introduce an M3 line of processors from Apple.
