Apple hires former Facebook exec as its new chief information officer

Apple has hired a startup founder and former Facebook executive to run its information systems group after departures in that department, reports Bloomberg, quoting unnamed “people with knowledge of the matter.”

Timothy Campos, who worked at Facebook (Meta) as chief information officer from 2010 to 2016, will lead the Information Systems and Technology department, better known as IS&T, which handles the infrastructure behind Apple’s online services, customer support and website. He replaces Chief Information Officer Mary Demby who announced her retirement last month after three decades at Apple.

Bloomberg says that Apple refers to the IS&T operation as its “nerve center” because it lets employees, suppliers and customers stay connected. The division reports to Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri.

Campos was the chief executive officer at Woven from December 2016 to May 2021. From then until joining Apple, he was corporate director at Ultimate Kronos Group.

Woven is the maker of a popular calendar app and was acquired by Slack Technologies. Ultimate Kronos Group. Ultimate Kronos Group is an American multinational technology company with dual headquarters in Lowell, Massachusetts, and Weston, Florida. It provides workforce management and human resource management services.
