Proton, the company behind Proton Mail, Proton VPN and Proton Drive, has announces the latest feature for Proton Pass: Secure Password Sharing.
This new feature allows anyone, whether they are an existing Proton Pass user or not, to securely share sensitive information without compromising on privacy or security. The sharing feature is available to users on either a free or paid plan.
Proton Pass’s Secure Password Sharing feature allows users to create shared vaults – collections that can be accessed by designated individuals or groups. The folks at Proton say that each shared vault is encrypted end-to-end, ensuring that only authorized users can access the information.
If you need to share a password or login with someone who’s not yet using Proton Pass, the recipient will receive an email invitation, and from there, they can sign up for a free Proton Pass account to access a shared vault where the password is securely stored.
According to the folks at Proton, features include:
- An Identity Protection Net: Secure Password Sharing allows you to temporarily share sensitive items like credit cards. Once the transaction is complete, you can easily revoke access.
- Privacy-Centric Design: Secure Password Sharing employs robust encryption protocols to guarantee exclusive access to authorized individuals, fortifying both privacy and security.
- User-Friendly: Simple to set up and manage, making it accessible to users of all technical backgrounds.
- Seamless Collaboration: Enable team members or family members to collaborate effortlessly by sharing essential passwords and login credentials without compromising security.
- Real-Time Sync: Changes made to the shared vault are instantly updated across all authorized devices, ensuring everyone has the most current information.
- Flexible Access Control: Users can specify who has access to each shared vault, and what level of access they have.
- Cross-Platform Compatibility: Ensure that the shared vault is accessible from various operating systems and devices, offering flexibility and convenience.
