Apple TV+’s ‘Still: A Michael J. Fox Story’ among Peabody Award nominees

Nominees in the Documentary, News, Public Service and Radio/Podcast categories were unveiled Tuesday for the 84th annual Peabody Awards. And Apple TV+’s “Still: A Michael J. Fox Story” made the cut.

The lists, chosen by a unanimous vote of 32 jurors from more than 1,100 entries, features four of five of this year’s Oscar Feature Documentary noms, notes Deadline. A total of 41 nominees were revealed in the three categories, with noms in the Arts, Children’s/Youth, Entertainment, and Interactive & Immersive sections set to be announced Thursday by the Peabodys, which aim to honor the year’s most compelling and empowering stories released in broadcasting and streaming media.

Winners will be revealed May 9 ahead of an awards ceremony June 9 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. You can find the complete list of nominees here.

About ‘Still: A Michael J. Fox’

“Still: A Michael J. Fox Story” is a documentary that stars Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan and is directed by Academy Award winner, Davis Guggenheim.

Here’s how it’s described: The film, which incorporates documentary, archival and scripted elements, recounts Fox’s extraordinary story in his own words — the improbable tale of an undersized kid from a Canadian army base who rose to the heights of stardom in 1980s Hollywood. The account of Fox’s public life, full of nostalgic thrills and cinematic gloss, unspools alongside his never-before-seen private journey, including the years that followed his diagnosis, at 29, with Parkinson’s disease. Intimate and honest, and produced with unprecedented access to Fox and his family, the film chronicles Fox’s personal and professional triumphs and travails, and explores what happens when an incurable optimist confronts an incurable disease. With a mix of adventure and romance, comedy and drama, watching the film feels like … well, like a Michael J. Fox movie.
