BRIDGE ALLOWS MAC WEBMASTERS TO EASILY
UPGRADE FROM COMMAND TAGS TO XML
November 25, 1997 — Media Design in*Progress today released a bridge from
the proprietary command-tag constructs of NetCloak (TM) to markup that
adheres to the syntax and semantics of XML and established open markup
standards.
“An increasing number of Webmasters realize that adhering to established
markup standards has major advantages for long-term maintainance of
websites” say Terje Norderhaug of Media Design in*Progress. “Using the
Cloak Bridge, Webmasters that previously have depended on proprietary
command tags for dynamic pages can move on to benefit from standard markup
that covers the same purpose.”
The Cloak Bridge allows documents with command tags to be imported by
Interaction. The bridge emulates all variations of the INSERT command tag
as well as macro inclusion. Webmasters can then substitute command tags
with corresponding XML constructs at their own pace, as well as use other
standard markup supported by Interaction. Macros are automatically
converted into XML Entities. On-line help is available to further assist
the transition from command tags to standard markup.
The Cloak Bridge comes as an optional component for Interaction, and is
available free of charge from:

Interaction is a widely used companion to Mac web servers that based on
established standards provides a sophisticated component-based framework
for dynamic, social and adaptive websites. The application has a high
number of entities for dynamic content, and also allows the webmaster to
create their own custom entities.
XML is a subset of SGML, the international standard for markup on which
HTML is based. Information about XML is available from
(http://interaction.in-progress.com/xml).
