Developer Edition of the Sorenson Video Codec
Now Available from Terran Interactive
San Jose, CA, Terran Interactive (April 3, 1998) Terran Interactive
announced today that it is now fulfilling orders for the Developer Edition
of the Sorenson Video Codec. One of the major advances of QuickTime 3, the
new Sorenson Video codec is included as a standard component of the
QuickTime installation. The Sorenson Video codec delivers the highest
quality low-bandwidth QuickTime movies.
A Basic Edition of the codec is included with QuickTime 3. However, for
best results content producers will need to upgrade to the Developer
Edition of the Sorenson Video Codec. Used with Media Cleaner Pro 3.0’s
advanced features such as variable bitrate encoding, the Developer Edition
can provide a dramatic improvement in image quality and/or filesize.

Content producers will need Media Cleaner Pro 3.0 to take advantage of
variable bitrate (VBR) encoding and Sorenson watermarking. Cleaner 3.0 has
not yet been released, but Terran is now taking orders – for those that
order or upgrade, Terran will ship the latest beta of Media Cleaner Pro
3.0. The final version Media Cleaner 3.0 will be shipped to customers as
soon as it is available (estimated ship date May 15th). In the meantime,
content developers will be able to use advanced features of the Sorenson
Video Developer Edition (including VBR and watermarking) to make great
video.
