Traffic Report Release Notes B30
Version: 1.0.b30
Date: Monday, October 26, 1998
Author: Brian Lusby
New Features in This Version
TR now lets you specify which referrers you’d like included in the reports.
You can include the internals, externals, or both. This just affects the
Referrer reports and doesn’t exclude a referrer’s entire log entry (as is
the case when using a filter). Settings for this addition are in the Log
Prefs. Referrers that contain the home domain you specify can be included
(for reporting on internal referrers) or excluded (for reporting on
external referrers). For example, to exclude www.apple.com and
www2.apple.com you’d specify your home domain as apple.com and both would
be excluded.
The Referer Stats report now includes visit counts and visits’ average
length. Want to know how many visits you’ve gotten from Yahoo!, Excite or
any other referrer category you’ve established? This report will tell you.
The Day-by-Day Stats, Primary Domain and Secondary Domain reports now
display visit counts and visits’ average length.
HTML reports can now be produced without the HTML tags. As text-only
reports these are useful for data export. This feature is available in the
HTML Preferences.
Some logs, such as those for FileMaker Pro, may contains dates in either
the mm/dd/yy or dd/mm/yy format. You can now select which date format your
log uses in the Log Prefs.
Several improvements have been made to the HTML reports’ appearance.
The HTML reports are now always reloaded by your browser. This way, when
they are updated you won’t get an old report from the browser’s cache.
This beta is more efficient memory-wise than earlier betas.
TR Beta 30 *is* compatible with files created with Beta 20 through 29. It
is good for 30 days.
Bugs Fixed in This Version
Fixed a bug that would cause the app to unexpectedly quit or produce a
system error. TR was getting into trouble in certain low-memory conditions.
When producing an HTML report the progress display would sometimes
disappear before completing the report with no message as to why. This was
actually caused by a low-memory warning’s failing to appear and has been
fixed.
Fixed a bug in the 68k version that was causing some statistical info to
overflow (start over at zero). Typically this would cause the bytes sent
statistic to be understated. The PowerPC version was unaffected by this
bug.
Several fixes have been made to TR’s FileMaker Pro log parser.
When needed, TR will add an “http://” in front of URLs that appear in the
HTML reports so these links will work properly.
Unused report categories are no longer displayed in the HTML report’s
navigation pane.
In some HTML reports the total line’s contents were formatted in a way
inconsistent with the rest of the report. This has been corrected.
