FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dearborn, MI — May 17, 1999 — Student attendance at MacHack: The
Annual Conference for Leading Edge Developers has always been a
bargain. For a meager $50, students have had a chance to code
alongside programming legends. First meals were added to the student
package, now even more value.

MacHack (http://www.machack.com/) and Aladdin Systems
(http://www.aladdinsys.com/) are pleased to announce that all 50
student attendees will receive copies of StuffIt Deluxe and FlashBack
as part of their attendance package, a value of over $120 all by
themselves.

“I know that students don’t have a lot of money to spend, I didn’t.”
said Jonathan Kahn, president of Aladdin. “So, anything we can do to
help and encourage these student developers is important and our way
of giving back to the Macintosh community.”

This announcement comes as the conference is reaching record student
registration. Student attendance is limited to 50. At the current
rate of registration, all available student slots will fill well
ahead of the conference.

“The student package has always been a good deal,” said P.D. Magnus,
student developer and third place winner in last year’s Best Hack
Conest. “It’s a chance to polish skills, explore the Mac platform,
interact with people in the industry, and have fun while doing it.
Plus there’s free stuff. I’ve never been able to argue with free
stuff.” P.D. has, of course, already registered.

Students may register for $50 which includes full conference
attendance and a meal package as well as a slew of other goodies.
Regular attendees can register for the conference at the regular rate
of $525 which includes the full conference package.

There’s still plenty of time to register, simply go to the conference
web site and register either via the secure online form or via the
snail mail form. Conference registration includes meals and full
access to all conference events. See the web site for full
information.

The MacHack planning committee is putting the final touches on the
overall conference plan which can be examined at the conference
website (http://www.machack.com/).

MacHack, in its fourteenth year, remains centered around cutting edge
software development. Each year the conference brings together
well-known names in the software business, as well as many students
and upstarts whose names we’ll know soon enough, and fosters
interaction between all of the attendees. MacHack’s uniqueness
derives from the informal feel and the LIVE coding that occurs
around-the-clock during the conference.
MacHack 1999 will take place June 23-26 in Dearborn, Michigan.
