AG Group Ships EtherPeek(TM) 4 for Macintosh!
WALNUT CREEK, California -September 13, 1999
AG Group, Inc. announced today the release of EtherPeek 4 for Macintosh.
This new, completely rewritten release adds many new enhancements to an
already robust feature set. EtherPeek is well-known industry wide for its
friendly GUI and powerful troubleshooting and debugging capabilities. This
new release has been optimized for the latest Mac OS as well as taking
advantage of the G3 processor and PCI-based Macs.
“As we did 10 years ago with the introduction of EtherPeek, we are once
again raising the bar for protocol analyzers. EtherPeek has more power and
is easier than ever to use,” says Mahboud Zabetian, President, AG Group,
Inc.
“I no longer need to stop running a capture session in order to monitor
another network issue. I can just create a new window with its own filters,
and have many independent capture sessions running simultaneously,” adds
Michael Wise, of Wired Magazine, a long-time EtherPeek user.
An award-winning Ethernet network traffic and protocol analyzer, EtherPeek
sets the industry standard for ease-of-use, making the complex tasks of
troubleshooting and debugging mixed-platform, multi-protocol networks easy.
Key features of the software include real-time and post-capture packet
filtering, Plug-ins for expert packet analysis, powerful decoding with
support for all major protocol suites, ProtoSpecs(TM) technology for fine
delineation of packet type, simple “Make Filter” command for address,
protocol and offset filtering creation/modification, real-time utilization
statistics for node, protocol, and filtered packet monitoring, Summary
Statistics window for baselining and monitoring key traffic statistics at
different intervals, HTML traffic statistics output, enhanced protocol
definitions, and more.

EtherPeek 4 for Macintosh Feature Enhancements
**********************************************************
* New! Multiple Capture Windows/Buffers/Filters
Support for multiple buffer packet capture in different
windows simultaneously, allowing you to capture a conversation
in one buffer and another conversation in a separate buffer, or
AppleTalk traffic into one buffer and IP traffic into another.
* New! Support for Advanced Filters
New advanced filters allow the use of OR, AND, and NOT in filter
creation and implementation.
* New! Filter creation based on port designation
* New! Filter creation based on strings located anywhere in the packet
* New! Name Table Options
Support for Port names (e.g., IP and AppleTalk ports; Name
Identification (such as router, server, client, etc.); and
Name Table groups that can be loaded and unloaded, providing a more
organized and customizable Name Table.
* New! Enhanced HTML Output for Statistics
View real-time node, protocol and summary statistics gathered by
EtherPeek with your Web browser. HTML templates provided with
EtherPeek allow easy report customization to remotely access relevant
network data from virtually any location.
* New! Enhanced Node Statistics
View traffic to and from logical and hardware addresses. Node
Statistics now show logical addresses associated with hardware
addresses or name aliases.
* New! Monitor Mode
Node, Protocol and Conversation Statistics are collected and
displayed continuously in real-time.
* New! Name Resolution Options
“Silent Resolver” will listen for packets containing name
resolution information and use that information to help build the
Name Table. “Active Resolver” will actively resolve any resolvable
IP or AppleTalk names.
* New! Hierarchical view of packet decode information
* New! Split Frame Format for packet decodes
View a decoded packet in two panes (header/data and raw) —
highlighting an item in the decoded packet selects the raw hex
values in another pane.
* Fully Y2K compliant
