Neon Software Announces Immediate Availability of Support for Wireless
Network Analysis in NetMinder Ethernet
LAFAYETTE, CA – March 30th, 2000 – Neon Software announced today the
immediate availability of version 4.3 of NetMinder Ethernet, their
software-based protocol analyzer and traffic monitor. Version 4.3,
available as a free download update on Neon Software’s website www.neon.com
to registered version 4 users, adds support for wireless communication
technology and and additional decodes for 802.1q VLAN protocols.

NetMinder Ethernet 4.3 Wireless Network Support NetMinder Ethernet 4.3
supports Apple Computer’s new AirPort wireless technology family of
products. AirPort users can now capture and analyze wireless data streams
to troubleshoot on the fly. NetMinder Ethernet enables mobile network
management using any Mac OS computer equipped with AirPort capabilities.
The convenience of wireless networking provides unique management and
troubleshooting opportunities. NetMinder Ethernet 4.3 collects lists of
wireless nodes as they appear on the network and details their traffic and
protocol usage. For example, NetMinder Ethernet can track DHCP and NAT
address assignments from AirPort base stations.
NetMinder Ethernet captures and decodes all types of Ethernet and wireless
Ethernet data (IP, AppleTalk, NetWare, DECnet, etc.) and produces long-term
data analysis via IP, AppleTalk, and NetWare analysis windows. NetMinder
Ethernet also features a rules-based system called “Packet Inference” for
recording and interpreting unusual network events such as Ping of Death,
Land Attacks, and duplicate IP addresses.
