Macworld Conference & Expo is Now the Second Most Attended IT Event in New York

60,000 Plus Mac Enthusiasts Propel Macworld Conference & Expo to New Records

New York, NY — July 26, 2000 — Macworld Conference & Expo/New York, which
is now the second most attended IT Event in New York, set a new all-time
attendance record for an East Coast Macworld by attracting more than 60,000
Mac enthusiasts from around the world to the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center, July 18-21, 2000.

The world’s most comprehensive Macintosh OS Event, Macworld Conference &
Expo featured nearly 400 leading companies showcasing the latest hardware,
software and Internet solutions on more than 294,000 gross square feet of
exhibit space, and also featured a variety of jam-packed conference
sessions, special events and forums designed to educate and inform both
professional and home Macintosh users.

The final total of 61,250 attendees represents a dramatic increase of more
than 33% over last year’s New York total of 45,000, and comfortably sets a
new all-time attendance record for a Macworld Conference & Expo on the East
Coast. Macworld Conference & Expo/San Francisco has already positioned
itself as the #1 IT Event on the West Coast.

According to IDG World Expo, owners and producers of the show, Macworld
Conference & Expo/New York 2000 was doubtlessly the most successful East
Coast event ever.

“With the new record for attendance and the 25% increase in exhibit space
over last year, Macworld Conference & Expo is now the second most attended
IT event in New York,” said Rob Scheschareg, Vice President, Events for IDG
World Expo. “Macworld Conference & Expo has been growing dramatically
during the last couple of years while other East Coast IT Events have been
declining. We expect this excitement and momentum to carry over to Macworld
Conference & Expo in San Francisco in January, 2001.”

Representing every segment of the Mac Platform, the 294,000 gross square
foot Macworld Conference & Expo is the largest event of its kind on the
East Coast. Special highlights of Macworld Conference & Expo/New York 2000
included: o A stimulating keynote presentation by Steve Jobs. o The IT
industry’s most successful educational conference program that attracted
more than 4,000 attendees to the more than 110 sessions featuring the most
up-to-date Macintosh training. o A variety of Special Interest Areas for
every segment of Mac user, including a new Music & Audio Area, a new
Assistive Technology Area, a new Quicktime Multimedia Studio, an Education
District, Consumer Showcase, Sci-Tech Area, Net Innovators Area and
Developer Central.

Macworld Conference & Expo/San Francisco, which set a new all-time
attendance record of 85,000 attendees in January 2000, and is already the
largest IT event in San Francisco, is in position to continue this
phenomenal growth in January 2001. Much of this growth can be attributed to
the interest in the hundreds of new products introduced by the more than
500 exhibitors participating in the San Francisco event — another all-time
Macworld Conference & Expo record.

The next semi-annual Macworld Conference & Expo will be held at San
Francisco’s Moscone Center, January 9-12, 2001.
