August 1, 2000 —

Maxum Development announced today the release of Phantom 2.2.1, a
maintenance upgrade to its popular web site search software for Macintosh
and Windows.

The 2.2.1 upgrade begins with better indexing of PDF files, including
support for author, summary and other meta information, to dramatically
improve search results for site visitors. For the administrator, enhanced
reporting of specific errors during indexing aids troubleshooting of both
local and remote crawls.

Phantom 2.2.1 is Mac OS 9 compatible and offers a number of important
improvements, including better support for indexing user directories on
Unix-based Web servers and easier upgrades from a previous version of
Phantom. Several problems were also corrected, including displaying an
incorrect number of search results under certain conditions.

The upgrade is free for current users of version 2.2. For more information,
including download links and a complete list of changes and updates, visit
