Discreet today introduced combustion 2, a new version of its paint, animation, and 3D composition software, to the European market, after announcing the software one month ago. combustion 2 features new multi-format project capabilities, including video, HDTV, and 64-bit color; advanced tool sets that include a fully-editable, interactive schematic view, composting flowchart, fully-integrated 2D particle system, and an interactive text and motion graphics module; performance enhancements; and more. combustion 2 will ship Carbonized for Mac OS X and is expected to ship by the end of the year for EUR4,250 (£2,695, US$3,495). Upgrades will be EUR1,000 (£595; $795); customers who purchase combustion 1 after August 1 will receive a free upgrade. Discreet also announced that its acquisition of many of Media 100’s software products is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
