Pacific Image Electronics, Inc. today introduced the PrimeFilm 1800AFL film scanner, which automatically loads and feeds 35mm film strips and roll film. The scanner features an 1800 dpi optical resolution, 42-bit color mode, and 3.2 dynamic range. Negative film can be scanned in just 23 seconds. The US$399 USB device is compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and later; Mac OS X support is currently in the works.
