FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
St. Clair Software Updates Default Folder to Version 3.1.3
(Youngstown, OH — December 18, 2001) St. Clair Software today released
version 3.1.3 of Default Folder, their popular enhancement for Open and
Save dialogs.
Default Folder 3.1.3 brings back the ability to show and hide the Finder
when file dialogs appear, as well as fixing a compatibility problem with
Eudora and minor issues with several features.
Highlights of the changes in Default Folder 3.1.3 include:
– A new option to have Default Folder show the Finder’s windows if
they’re hidden when a file dialog comes up.
– After creating a new folder from within a file dialog, the folder
is now correctly selected.
– Corrected a bug that could cause applications to crash when they
tried to display a file dialog while the option key was down.
This affected Eudora, among others.
– Errors are now correctly handled when importing folder sets and
when using the Default Folder Substitutions extension.

ABOUT DEFAULT FOLDER
Default Folder is a Mac OS 9 savvy control panel that enhances Open and
Save dialog boxes to make it easier for Macintosh users to manage their
files. It provides many of the essential features of the commercial ACTION
Files, SuperBoomerang, and Directory Assistance utilities, but
distinguishes itself by not including some infrequently used extras. By
doing this, Default Folder provides faster, more stable, more
memory-efficient operation than competitive offerings. Default Folder is
also fully compatible with both Navigation Services and “classic” Open and
Save dialogs.
Default Folder will operate on any Macintosh running System 7 or higher,
including Mac OS 9.2.2 and the Classic environment of OS X (an OS X-native
version of Default Folder is also under development). Default Folder is
distributed as shareware, requiring a $25 registration fee for use beyond a
free 30 day trial period.
