MACWORLD CONFERENCE & EXPO ADDS NEW CONFERENCES FOR NEW YORK
Expanded agenda, pricing packages provide more flexibility and choice
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., April 2, 2002 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of
world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for IT markets around the
globe, announced today that it has significantly expanded its conference
offerings for its upcoming Macworld Conference & Expo in New York City,
which will take place July 15-19, 2002 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center. Macworld Conference & Expo is the world’s most comprehensive
Macintosh OS event.
With the addition of two new conference programs – the Hands-on MacLabs and
Power Tools Conferences – conference attendees can now take advantage of
five full days of education and training on key Mac applications and tools.
IDG World Expo has also introduced a variety of flexible conference
packages to address the needs of those with more restricted schedules.
The Hands-on MacLabs will provide focused computer training on a variety of
applications and tools for the Mac, including Flash 5 ActionScript, DVD
StudioPro, Mac OS X, PDF and Final Cut Pro. Attendees will bring their
laptops for hands-on training during these highly interactive, half-day
sessions. Class size is limited to maximize interaction between
participants and instructors, and all sessions are taught by
highly-respected Mac experts.
The new Power Tools Conferences provide two full days of intensive training
on a specific application, taught by faculty chosen for their particular
experience and expertise. In addition to Power Tools Conferences on
Professional Photoshop, FileMaker Pro, and Final Cut Pro =BE which debuted i=

new conferences focusing on DVD Studio Pro or AppleScript.
“It is a pleasure to listen to an instructor who really knows an
application well,” said John Monahan, assistant professor of educational
leadership at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, who attended the Power
Tools Conference on Professional Photoshop at Macworld Conference &
Expo/San Francisco 2002. “This conference really met my needs. I am quite
familiar with specific components of Photoshop, but had been frustrated
with components that I used infrequently. Attending this conference helped
me to pull it all together.”
The Hands-on MacLabs and Power Tools Conferences will be offered in
addition to Macworld Conference & Expo’s standard conference agenda:
=B7 Workshops offer a full-day of education on the hottest topics in the
industry, and are taught by well-known Mac industry experts such as Bob
LeVitus, Deborah Shadovitz and Chris Breen
=B7 Macworld/Pro Conference offers content-rich technical sessions for the
professional Macintosh user, with tracks on Macintosh networking and
communications, digital video, professional publishing, Mac OS X, and
issues facing Mac managers
=B7 Macworld/Users Conference offers more than 60 sessions over the course o=

two days on a variety of topics, including Mac OS X, making desktop movies,
digital photography, applications for small business and education, and
making music on a Mac
“We are constantly re-working our conference offerings based on feedback we
receive from attendees,” said Darrell Baker, vice president of event
services, IDG World Expo. “In addition to more flexible pricing, we’ve also
added sessions that offer intensive education on key Mac applications and
hands-on training. Both Hands-on MacLabs and Power Tools Conferences were
created in direct response to attendee feedback.”
Pricing packages have also been revised to offer more flexibility to
attendees who have only limited time to spend at the event. Macworld/Pro
Conference attendees unable to attend all three days of the conference can
choose to purchase a one- or two-day pass to participate on selected days.
Though the Pro Conference pass will no longer include admission to the
Users Conference, separate passes for the Macworld/Users Conference, Power
Tools Conferences, and MacLabs allow attendees to select those conferences
that best fit their individual needs and schedules. A new Platinum pass has
also been added for those attendees interested in attending a Power Tools
Conference in addition to both Pro Conference and Users Conference sessions.
Macworld Conference & Expo’s conference agenda is designed to address the
diverse needs of the complete spectrum of Mac users. Featuring educational
sessions, in-depth workshops, hands-on labs, and interactive discussions,
the agenda includes sessions appropriate for beginners, hobbyists, and
professionals, covering a wide variety of technical and creative topics.
Detailed descriptions of sessions are available in the “My Briefcase” area
of the Macworld Web site, www.macworldexpo.com.
