BusinessWeek reports that on March 16, Seattle-based coffee giant Starbucks will launch an in-store music service allowing customers to browse and sample digital songs—using HP tablet computers—then order the ones they like on a custom burned CD. The first musical Starbucks opens in Santa Monica, Calif., and the service will expand into 2,500 stores over the next two years. Pricing will be US$6.99 for five songs (the minimum purchase) and $12.95 for albums. Starbucks also said its plans to offer wireless downloads to laptops or portable players in the future.
