FRAMINGHAM, MA – March 15, 2004 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of
world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets,
today announced that the opening feature presentation at Macworld
Conference & Expo=AE in Boston will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the
Macintosh with the members of its original design team. This panel
presentation will lead off a feature presentation line-up that also
includes photojournalist Rick Smolan and the return of Macworld’s geek
trivia contest, the MacBrainiac Challenge.

Macworld Conference & Expo will take place July 12 – 15, 2004 at the new
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC). Macworld is returning to
Boston for the first time in seven years, and is the first event to be held
in the BCEC.

New York Times technology columnist David Pogue will host a panel of
members from the original Macintosh design team in the event’s opening
feature presentation, “The Macintosh at 20 – A Celebration of 20 Years of
Innovation.” Attendees will hear from Jef Raskin, Andy Hertzfeld, Bill
Atkinson and Jerry Mannock, who will share anecdotes and perspectives on
the development of the Macintosh.

These veteran Mac luminaries will also examine the evolution of the
Macintosh, and explore what the future holds for the Mac and the technology
community at large. The opening feature presentation will take place on
Tuesday, July 13 at 10:00 am.

Renowned photojournalist Rick Smolan will also deliver a feature
presentation at Macworld on Wednesday, July 14 at 10:00 am. Smolan, who
co-founded the best-selling “Day in the Life” series, is also the
co-founder of Against All Odds Productions, which specializes in the design
and execution of large-scale global projects that combine compelling
story-telling with state-of-the-art technology. Smolan recently completed a
new project, America 24/7 , which turned more than one million photographs
submitted by more than 25,000 photographers into a best-selling book that
chronicles life in America.

Macworld Boston will also present the return of the MacBrainiac Challenge,
an entertaining, unpredictable geek trivia contest featuring the Mac
community’s most popular personalities. Hosted by Christopher Breen,
contributing editor of Macworld, the MacBrainiac Challenge will pit two
teams against one another to compete for the coveted MacBrainiac Award.
Teams will be headed up by Andy Ihnatko, columnist for the Chicago
Sun-Times and Macworld , and Peter Cohen, senior editor of MacCentral . The
MacBrainiac Challenge will take place on Wednesday, July 14 at 3:00 pm.

“Over the past several months, IDG World Expo has been reaching out to the
Mac community to engage them in the development of Macworld Boston, and the
response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Warwick Davies, group vice
president of IDG World Expo. “We are committed to producing an event in
Boston that celebrates the dynamic spirit and sense of community that is
unique to Mac users. The feature presentation line-up is the first of many
show attractions that we have developed to educate, entertain and inspire
the Mac community at Macworld Boston this summer.”

Feature presentations are open to all registered attendees. For more
