Paul R. La Monica has written an article in Business 2.0 about a company called PortalPlayer and its recent, and quiet, IPO. “PortalPlayer gets most of its business from a Taiwanese company called Inventec,” notes the story. “And Inventec is the company that makes this little device that you may have heard — it’s called the iPod.” La Monica reasons that since “PortalPlayer’s processors are the brains and guts of Apple Computer’s uber-popular music player,” the company is kind of like the “Intel of the iPod.” Link credit to MyAppleMenu
