Kochan and Hillegass to Teach Objective-C and Cocoa for Tiger
Atlanta, GA – April 25, 2005 – Kochan and Hillegass to teach Objective-C
and Cocoa for Tiger, June 27-July 1, 2005
Big Nerd Ranch announces two exciting changes for the June 27 – July 1
Cocoa Bootcamp: an updated syllabus for Mac OS X 10.4 and a special
offering of an Steve Kochan’s Objective-C Mini-Bootcamp the weekend leading
into the Cocoa class.
The curriculum has been updated to include Core Data, Xcode 2, and an
introduction to creating Automator actions. The Cocoa class will still
cover the fundamental components of the current syllabus, while integrating
the new features to provide the most advanced and relevant course in the
industry on Cocoa development.
In addition, the June course is paired with an exciting new mini-bootcamp
on Objective-C Programming – June 25-26 – with Steve Kochan, the author of
“Programming in Objective-C,” as instructor. Students who take the two
classes together as a package can begin with little programming experience
and emerge as capable Objective-C and Cocoa programmers.
Instructor Aaron Hillegass, who spent the past year reviewing the changes
for 10.4 and translating that information into readily accessible lessons,
said “Core Data has made bindings a truly useful and powerful technology.”
Mr. Hillegass boasts an extensive career as one of the leading experts on
Cocoa programming and his book, “Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X,” is the
primary text for the class.
The Cocoa syllabus trains students on core topics like bindings, Interface
Builder, Xcode, OpenGL, Frameworks, NIB files, and formatters. Students
begin programming on their first day of class and by the end of the
bootcamp have built a sophisticated and multi-layered application utilizing
the major features of Cocoa.
Objective-C Instructor Steve Kochan is the author of many bestselling
programming books. Recently, he has focused on the Mac platform and
published “Programming in Objective-C” and “Beginning AppleScript.”
