MacIT Conference at Macworld Conference & Expo To Provide
Comprehensive Training for Managers Deploying Enterprise Solutions
Schoun Regan, nationally-recognized Macintosh Enterprise authority
appointed as MacIT Conference Chair
FRAMINGHAM, MA, October 31, 2006 — IDG World Expo, the leading
producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for
technology markets, today announced the schedule for the MacIT
Conference at Macworld Conference & Expo, taking place January 8-12,
2007 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. In addition to covering the
latest features and deployment techniques for Apple’s IT products,
the three-day conference will also provide in-depth training in
client, security and network management techniques by industry
luminaries. Schoun Regan, CEO of ITInstruction.com and
internationally respected expert on Mac OS X Server has been named
the Conference Chair for the event.
MacIT is the industry’s most comprehensive conference presenting
technical training on Apple IT tools and technology. MacIT
participants can choose from 45 sessions under the following five
topics: System Imaging & Deployment; Mac OS X in the Enterprise
Arena; Service Solutions Using Mac OS X Server; Mac OS X Management
and Administration; and Securing Mac OS X.
Conference sessions are presented by a faculty of world-renowned
consultants, authors, developers and practitioners of Mac Enterprise
products. New highlights and featured sessions at this year’s MacIT
Conference include:
* “The MacIT Kick-Off Forum.” Industry luminaries will discuss the
current state of Mac Enterprise Tools and Technology. Featured
speakers include (and hosted by) Schoun Regan, Josh Wisenbaker,
Philip Rinehart, and other special guests.
* “Taming Mac OS X File Systems,” taught by Amit Singh, author of
Mac OS X Internals. Files, and consequently file systems, underlie
most of the interactions users have with the operating system. Mac OS
X supports a rich and interesting set of file system features. It is
eminently useful and rewarding to learn what these features are, how
they work, and how you can use them to your advantage. In this talk,
learn such techniques in the context of the Extensible Firmware
Interface (EFI) environment, the xnu kernel, and the Mac OS X user
space.
* “Managing Directory Services on Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server.” To
understand Mac OS X, you must understand directory services. Join
Schoun Regan and Nigel Kerston as they address basic questions about
directories and outline features of Open Directory, Mac OS X’s
Directory Services architecture. Topics will include server features
and architecture, key processes, systems and configuration mechanisms.
* “Optimizing Mac OS X Server File Services.” This session, taught
by Nigel Kersten, focuses on increasing performance and
troubleshooting issues surrounding each of the four files services on
Mac OS X; AFP, SMB, NFS, and FTP.
* “Xserve and Leopard Server.” Mac OS X Server version 10.5 Leopard
is the 6th major release of Apple’s award-winning UNIX server
operating system. It enables small businesses and workgroups without
an IT department to take full advantage of the benefits of a server.
Even non-technical users will be able to set up and manage Leopard
Server, which brings together 64-bit power and Apple’s legendary ease
of use in one server operating system. Apple product managers Doug
Brooks and Eric Zelenka will teach you what’s needed to get started
with Leopard Server and XServe.
“MacIT presents Enterprise Computing managers with vital information
for deploying Apple’s latest operating system and server products,”
said Paul Kent, vice president, Macworld Conference & Expo. “Schoun
Regan has been an integral part of the success of MacIT over the past
several years. I’m thrilled to announce the formalization of his role
as Conference Chair and look forward to working with Schoun to bring
more advanced topics and respected speakers to the event.”
