LaCie (http://www.lacie.com) has announced the Rugged XL, a new
consumer desktop drive that leverages the design and features of the
legacy Rugged Hard Disk, including a 1TB capacity boost.
Rugged XL offers aluminum casing for protection, as well as the
signature orange rubber sleeve. It also features an internal bumper
and heat dissipating features. The Rugged XL is compatible with both
Mac and PC environments.
In addition, it supports two interfaces: USB for universal
compatibility, and the extreme speed of eSATA 3Gb/s. The new drive
also includes a software bundle for formatting with LaCie Setup
Assistant, as well as Intego Backup Assistant software for Mac users.
The LaCie Rugged XL will be available in a 1TB capacity, through the
LaCie Online Store, LaCie Reseller+ or LaCie Storage Partner starting
at the suggested retail price of US$159.99.
