Veenix Software has updated TypeBook Creator (http://www.veenix.com/FontTools.html), professional font cataloging and specimen printing software for the Mac, to version 2.4. The new version features a new approach to font organization that sorts fonts by energy and ranks them using an associative color.
TypeBook Creator features automatic font categorization, 16 specimen page layouts and numerous customization options. It uses a proprietary algorithmic process that can distinguish between 16 font classifications of Western Roman fonts, including: serif and sans serif fonts, picture, script & thematic fonts, text fonts, mono-spaced fonts, wide and narrow fonts, and more.
Fonts are analyzed as they’re added to the database and tagged with appropriate categories. Users can also manually add their own categories, and recategorize fonts as they see fit. The automatic font categorization process will be deployed in all Veenix font products by 2009, the company says.
Veenix TypeBook Creator retails for US$49.95 for a studio license and $99.95 for a corporate license. A demo can be downloaded at the product web site. TypeBook Creator is Universal Binary and runs on Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. Version 2.4 is a free update for registered users of version 2.x.
