Morgan Stanley analyst Ehud Gelblum thinks Verizon is passing on the chance to be an iPhone carrier in the US — see http://www.macnews.com/content/verizon-pass-iphone — but “The Wall Street Journal” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304370304575152242601774892.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLETopStories( has a different take on the situation.
The “WSJ,” quoting “people briefed on the matter,” says Apple is developing a new iPhone to debut this summer and also appears to be working on a model for Verizon Wireless. The people briefed on the matter told the “WSJ” that one of the new iPhones is being manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which produced Apple’s previous iPhones. The model that has CDMA capability, used by Verizon Wireless, is purportedly being manufactured by Pegatron Technology Corp., the contract manufacturing subsidiary of Taiwan’s ASUSTeK Computer.
