Early Innovations has released PhotoLinker 2.2 (http://www.earlyinnovations.com/photolinker/), an update of the professional photo annotation and geotagging tool for Mac OS X (10.5and higher). The new version integrates with iPhoto by reading and writing tags with the iPhoto database
You can synchronize metadata, and iPhoto tags can be written back to the photo (and/or sidecar). PhotoLinker 2.2 also sports: topographic maps for the US and Canada from MyTopo; support for PNGs; integrated spell checking; contextual menus on the photos; shareable metadata templates; and a new version of GPSBabel.
PhotoLinker is a customizable metadata editor to facilitate a streamlined and efficient workflow. It complies with the recommendations of the Metadata Working Group, ensuring proper handling of your photos’ metadata.
PhotoLinker’s track and waypoint browser handles years of data and millions of track points imported from your computer or downloaded directly from your GPS receiver. Tracks are automatically cataloged by date and displayed on an interactive map where the size and color can be adjusted.
PhotoLinker costs US$49.95, though version 2.2 is a free update for registered users of version 2.x. A 30-day demo is available for download.
The predecessor to PhotoLinker 2.x, GPSPhotoLinker 1.6, will remain a free download. Mac OS X 10.5 required.
