Despite the hoopla surrounding Microsoft Bing’s tighter integration with Facebook, Google hogs as much as 97% of all the search traffic on the iPhone, according to ad network Chitika, as reported by “eWeek” (http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Search-Engines/Googles-iPhone-Search-Traffic-as-Great-as-97-755713/).

Apple’s mobile Safari toolbar sends 49% of traffic to Google, while the Google homepage racks up about 42.24% of the traffic on the iPhone. The Google App accounts for 8.68%of Google’s iPhone traffic.

Chitika analyst Dan Ruby told “eWeek” that, counting the Google App and Safari to be different sources, Google controls the top two iPhone search engine spots on the popular mobile device.
