Sometimes when you’re listening to your tunes or using your iPhone, you want to feel isolated. Sound isolated, that is. Enter the US$199.95 SE315 earbuds (http://www.shure.com/americas/products/earphones-headphones/se-models/se315-sound-isolating-earphones) from Shure. The SE is for “sound isolating.”

The SE315 sports High-Definition MicroDrivers and utilizes a vented driver. A detachable cable with formable wire can be easily replaced in case of damage. Sound Isolating sleeves — available in black or clear — in multiple sizes provide up to 37 dB of isolation and a customized fit.

You may need to detach the cable from the earphones to attach optional components or to replace the cable if it becomes damaged. To prevent accidental separation, the connector has a snug fit. Note that you should take special care to prevent damage to the earphone and connector.

Sound isolation technology prevents outside noise from interfering with your listening experience. The lightweight, low-profile shape of the SE315 with its optimized nozzle angle is designed to rest comfortably in the ear. Plus, the over-the-ear configuration keeps cables out of the way. A gold-plated MMCX Connector has a lock-snap mechanism designed to allow a 360 degree rotation.

The included sound isolating sleeves have two purposes. One is to block ambient noise. The other is to ensure a comfortable customized fit. Because every ear is different, the Fit Kit includes three sizes (small, medium and large) of the flex and black foam sleeves, as well as one pair of triple flange and one pair of universal fit yellow foam sleeves. You should experiment with the size and style that creates the best fit for you. Wearing the cable over the ear and securing it behind the head can help keep the earphones in place during physical activity.

The folks at Shure say a good seal is key to optimizing sound isolation and bass response, as well as maximizing comfort during extended wear. The Shure 315 earbuds come with a soft-zip, compact carrying case.
