All second-graders at Columbia Elementary School in northern Indiana will be issued iPads next year to help them with reading lessons, reports the “Ventura County Star” (http://macte.ch/o6Vf2).
An US$200,000 Classroom Innovation Grant from the Indiana Department of Education will pay for the iPads as well as MacBook Pros for second- and third-grade teachers, and related costs, the article adds.
Rochester Schools Technology Director Theresa Shafer told the “Ventura County Star” that the students will be able to take the iPads home. The school will have evening workshops to teach parents how the iPads work, how they can help their children use them, and online safety.
