Targeted for students K through 3rd grade, this $9.99 app is a primary level resource with illustrations and student text. Student can swipe, tap, and drill down across building blocks that are incorporated into an end-to-end flowchart that starts with a chapter on atoms and ends with a chapter introducing DNA.
Mobilesce has launched You Did It! 1.0 for iPad users.The $3.99 app is designed to help kids earn rewards by completing chores. You Did It! can track chore lists for up to six children and is fully parental-controlled.
Animation and design house, LaLafish, have debuted Cielo the Curious Bird, an iPhone and iPad application targeted to kids. It’s an interactive storybook with 23 interactive pages. Cielo the Curious Bird costs US$1.99 for the iPhone/iPod touch edition and $2.99 for the iPad version.
Niles Technology Group have rolled out Middle School Writing 1.0 for iOS devices. Designed specifically to address the needs of beginning writers, the $16.99 app guides students in learning the fundamental thought processes and structure required to become a good writer. The app includes essay writing staples such as book report, biography and the five-paragraph essay.
Gameloft, is offering Order & Chaos Online. Compatible with the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch, it’s available on iTunes for $6.99 for a three-month subscription. Subsequent monthly subscriptions are available for $.099 (one month), $1.99 (three months), and $2.99 (six months). A Wi-Fi connection and a Gameloft LIVE! account are required to play the game.
Imagine taking one-on-one guitar lessons from Jackson Browne or Richard Thompson. These are among the experiences offered by On The Music Path, a new iPad app designed to teach users to play real instruments with instruction from world-class musicians. Lessons are shot in high-definition video by cinematographer Alan Kozlowski, who developed the app with business partner Derek Penn. Lessons range from 45 to 85 minutes, and are accompanied by musical notation and tablature synchronized to the teacher’s playing. The application can be downloaded for free with lessons available from $2.99 to $19.99. Students can try out the first chapters of any lesson at no charge before purchasing.
TuneIn Radio is now available for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It’s an app for finding and listening to radio stations on the iOS devices. TuneIn Radio is available in a free version or a $0.99 “pro” version with pause and recording features.

The $24.99 app allows musicians, DJs, producers and performers to control and perform Ableton Live directly from their Apple tablets. Among other new features and improvements, version 1.2 includes a new Multi-Ball XY PAD module.
Shifty Jelly Pty has announced Pocket Casts 2.0, an update to their news podcasts app for iOS devices. With the $1.99 tool you can import your existing podcasts from your iPod, or subscribe to all your favorite ones, then get instant updates and push notifications when new episodes are available.
Breek has updated The Farm HD, an educational app developed for the iPad, to version 1.2. Toddlers will use the $3.99 app as a classic picture book, and children can learn a second or third language while playing and having fun. Version 1.2 features an improved interface with effects and sounds, a help section, and a new flip-book with sounds and images.
PhatWare has released PhatPad 1.3, an update to its $7.99 note-taking and collaboration iPad app. The tool turns an iPad into an advanced brainstorming tool by enabling users to draw, write, and type on the Apple tablet, then share ideas via email, WiFi sync, Dropbox, or with PhatPad’s built-in presentation mode. Version 1.3 features a new clipart gallery containing more than 1,200 images organized in 27 categories, support for iPad II camera, integration with Google Docs and more.
