For many people, the iPad can’t replace a full-fledged laptop. However, the ability to use an external keyboard makes it more laptop-like — and a more-than-suitable netbook replacement. One fine solution for using a keyboard is the Logitech Keyboard Case by Zagg (http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggmate-ipad-case).
Apple offers the iPad Keyboard Dock and the Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard as physical keyboard options, but the Logitech solution is more portable. There are other iPad keyboard solutions, but the ZAGG product is unique in that it’s a hard shell case and keyboard in one.
It’s made from aircraft aluminum with a bead-blasted, anodized finish matching the design, look and feel of the Apple tablet. It has a hinge that offers 10 viewing and typing angles in both portrait and landscape modes. The Logitech Keyboard Case offers protection thanks to its high-density padding. And it doesn’t add too much bulk (only about an eighth of an inch) to the iPad.
The Logitech Keyboard Case fits onto the front of the iPad when you’re on the go. When you need to type, remote the Apple tablet, prop it up on the movable stand and sync it via Bluetooth with the enclosed keyboard. Once paired, the keyboard automatically reconnects whenever you turn it on. An on/off switch lets you turn off the keyboard when you’re not using the Logitech Keyboard Case.
The case provides all the standard keys, most of ’em where you’d expect ’em to be. There are also special function keys for music control, volume control, slideshow, home, search, etc.
The Logitech Keyboard Case with keyboard uses a 510 mAh rechargeable lithium polymer battery that will last several weeks of normal use without charging.
