DTP Tools has released Active Tables, a plug-in that turns Adobe InDesign into a spreadsheet editor. The plug-in allows users to insert formulas instead of final numbers, having the numbers re-calculated when the source data changes.
Formulas can process text and conditions, such as adjust tax amount on the invoice automatically based on the customer location. Active Tables allows designers to stay in InDesign and not have to go back to Numbers, Excel or other program to edit the source.
Active Tables plug-in is sold for US$79 per license. A 14-day demo version for InDesign CS3-CS5 on Mac OS and Windows is available for download (http://www.dtptools.com/activetables).
