If you were hoping to see Harry Potter books on Apple’s iBookstore, you’re out of luck for now. Digital versions of the books are coming, but to author J.K. Rowling’s own Pottermore instead.
Pottermore is an upcoming website designed to “build an exciting online experience around the reading of her hugely successful Harry Potter books, and is partnered by Sony.” For this collaborative project, Rowling has written extensive new material about the characters, places and objects in the much-loved stories.
Pottermore will also incorporate an online shop where people can purchase exclusively the Harry Potter eBooks. As the Pottermore Shop develops, it is intended that it should include further products designed specifically for Harry Potter fans, offering a potential outlet for Sony products and services related to Pottermore.
