I’m a bit skeptical but “Cult of Mac” (http://macte.ch/EV0vY) claims that Apple is discontinuing the Magic Mouse in favor of the Magic Trackpad. Their unnamed retail source says Magic Mouse inventory isn’t being replenished for Apple stores, and that Apple is finally phasing out the Magic Mouse.
“Cult of Mac” notes that, iIn OS X Lion, Apple focused heavily on gestures. However, lots of folks still find a mouse vital. I suspect Apple may be making the Magic Trackpad the default device for Apple desktops with the Magic Mouse an option.
If “Cult of Mac” is right, makers of third party mice are going to be very happy (unless Apple drops all mouse support from OS X).
