Hundreds of Silicon Valley’s elite, most dressed in black, gathered at Stanford’s Memorial Church Sunday evening for a private memorial for Steve Jobs, reports “The Telegraph” (http://macte.ch/3kWrP).
Security was tight around the memorial, with reporters being kept away from the church. The event was shrouded in secrecy, with passersby being told the area would be closed for six to eight hours for the event, notes “The Telegraph.”
“The New York Times” (http://macte.ch/3ARM3) says that the mourners included Bill Clinton; Larry Ellison, Oracle’s chief executive; Bill Gates, Microsoft’s co-founder; Michael Dell, Dell’s chief executive; Bono, the U2 lead singer, folk singer Joan Baez; and John Lasseter, who worked with Mr. Jobs at Pixar, the animation studio that Jobs developed and later sold to Walt Disney.
