XCool Apps has introduced iBrightness for the Mac. It requires Mac OS X, costs US$0.99 and is available worldwide exclusively through Apple’s Mac App Store in the Utilities category.
Besides allowing you to freely adjust your brightness level straight from the menu bar, iBrightness waits for your Mac’s power source to change and then adjusts the screen brightness. According to the folks at XCool Apps, it’s targeted at filling the gap for one of the most basic features that should have been built-in to each laptop that Apple sells.
Whenever we turn the power adapter on or off, MacBooks, MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs will automatically adjust the screen brightness. However, it switches the brightness according to what it thinks is right, sometimes depending on what it feels like, even when users may have switched off the automatic brightness setting. iBrightness is designed to help with the matter.
