A German court Friday postponed its decisions on alleged infringement by Samsung Electronics of two Apple patents in the ongoing legal brouhaha, reports “FOSS Patents” (http://macte.ch/ClECc). German regional courts stay patent infringement lawsuits only if a defendant shows a high probability (80%+) of the patent being invalidated, the article adds.
This week it was reported (http://macte.ch/SfT1s) that Apple and Samsung CEOs will meet on May 21 and 22 to try and settle the global, ongoing patent battle. Currently, the legal combat involves 50-plus patents and lawsuits in 10 countries.
The meetings will take place in a San Francisco courthouse, while the litigation itself is before the San Jose division of the court. Apple’s original complaint accused Samsung of violating eight patents, and named 17 specific Samsung products that the company felt were infringing upon its own inventions.
