A multi-platform,backdoor malware has been discovered, and it not only affects Windows users, but Mac and Linux users, as well, according to the folks at Sophos. Being a multi-platform attack, this malware has the potential to affect a higher number of people, and is something that anyone with an OS should be aware of, the security specialis company says.
“Visiting a hacked webpage, triggers a JAR (Java Archive) file which will ask permission to do its business — secretly determining if you are running Windows, Mac OS X or Linux,” says Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant with Sophos. “Once it has found out which operating system you are running, the Java class file will download the appropriate flavor of malware, with the intention of opening a backdoor that will give hackers remote access to your computer.”
