Construction work has “quietly started” on Apple’s planned US$304 million expansion project on Parmer Lane in Northwest Austin, Texas — a project that is expected to create as many as 3,600 local jobs, reports the “American Statesman” (http://macte.ch/haiRf).
The article says there’s “major earthwork happening on the 38.8-acre site and the concrete shell of what appears to be a three-story office building is taking shape.” Apple will receive up to $36 million in state, city and county incentives over the next 10 years if it lives up to its economic development agreement, which includes creating 3,600 jobs over 10 years. The average annual wage for those jobs is $63,950, according to the “American-Statesman.”
